SOUTHEND United’s away game will still go ahead this Saturday despite a planned march by the English Defence League.

The far-right group is planning to march through Rotherham and anti-fascist rallies have also been planned.

A statement on Rotherham United’s website stressed they will still be playing the Blues despite the protest march.

The club said: “Rotherham United FC have received a number of phone calls this week regarding Saturday’s fixture with Southend United.

“The club would like to respond to rumours circulating that the game might be postponed.

“This is not the case the fixture WILL go ahead as planned with a 3pm kick off.
“We look forward to seeing you at New York Stadium.”
