Eleven-year-old boy knocked down in crash

AN ELEVEN-YEAR-OLD boy has been knocked down in a car crash in Ness Road Shoebury.
The accident happened at about 4.15pm today and involved a 4X4 vehicle.
An ambulance was called to the scene.

In cases like this, it is ALWAYS regarded as the drivers fault, unfortunately. Its never been any different and i doubt it will change any time soon. The driver is the easiest person to blame, has insurance (in most cases), has some sort of identifiable markings about their vehicle (registration mark) and are traceable. A cyclist or pedestrian has none of these if they manage to get up afterwards. Unfortunate as it is, its just the way it works.
The driver is the one responsible for making sure a couple of tons of metal doesn't kill anyone. It's absolutely right that it's the driver's fault if they hit and injure someone. That's why in Europe they have presumed liability insurance, which means the driver of the larger vehicle in any collision is automatically deemed responsible unless it can be proved otherwise.It makes for much more civilised roads and driver behaviour than in the UK.
Here there are too many who think they own the road, who think it's ok to speed, or park illegally, or use their phone while driving, or to tailgate, or scream abuse at other road users. It's no wonder continental Europeans refer to the British as 'island monkeys'.
Funny how my earlier comments regarding how dangerous Ness Road can be between 3 and 6pm got removed.
Perhaps the truth hurts.
