Father speaks after son jailed for selling steroids

THE FATHER of a man jailed for selling steroids has told him to come out of prison a better person.

The emotional message was given to Nicholas Boys, 27, before he was led away from the dock for an 18 month prison sentence.

Police had raided his home in Thornford Gardens, Southend, and found £211,533 of steroids and prescription drugs.

There was also evidence he was selling over the internet.

His father, who would only be named as Mr Boys, said: “I think it will be a good thing for him to go away because I said I hope you come out a better person and not selfish.

“Get on with your life and start appreciating the people who support you. That’s the last thing I said to him.

“He looked at me with tears in his eyes. He’s not a bad lad, but it was the affects of the things he’s taken, paranoia, rage, it’s not in his character.”

He said one of the most upsetting things was that his son’s mitigation was that he had done this to pay off his dad’s gambling debts.

But Mr Boys senior said this simply wasn’t true, and asked the Echo to clarify that this simply isn’t the case.

He said: “Under no circumstances did I have any gambling debts.”

Boys, now of Arundel Gardens, Westcliff, is set to face a Proceeds of Crime Act hearing next year.

Hia accomplices, Eric Rudanec, 50, of Southchurch Avenue, Southend, and Mark Rossen, 43, of Prittlewell Chase, Southend, were both given six month sentences suspended for a year and 150 hours unpaid work, after admitting conspiracy to supply anabolic steroids and prescription-only drugs.
