Should be a mandatory life sentence for anyone caught in possession of any unlicensed firearm in public, in fact do the same for knives to (with the existing caveat relating to carrying a knife).

What other reason can someone have for carrying such an item in public except for wanting to harm/kill another person.

It was a multi-shot, semi automatic air pistol so no licence is required! However brandishing on public will definitely get you into trouble!

Using a firearm or air pistol to cause fear or distress, is an offence I believe. The person it is pointed at ar not to know it is not real. Hope they get punished suitably

What a nasty world we live in now, even our local papers are filled with crime stories. What ever happened to teaching kids some respect. Also the drinking age should be raised to 25 in my opinion.

Thats the most stupid thing ever. Raised to 25. You get some 25 year olds who are less responsible then 18 year olds. What has drinking got to do with this story anyway?

How about making a rule where you have to be 22 to comment on websites

*tongue firmly planted in cheek*

Or at least make sure the people commenting are from the town related to the story, I mean what a stinking sesspit of incestural depravity basildon is who in their right mind would even dream let along actually use that town's name as their name on a message board... ;)
