Firefighters rescue bird of prey from the roof of a Southend home

Firefighters were called to a Southend home after a show hawk became trapped on the roof.

The bird of prey had become tangled in a TV aerial on the top of a property in North Crescent at around 11:50am on Sunday.

Crews from Leigh Fire Station had to use a triple extension ladder to reach the animal and had bought it down to safety by 12:25pm.

The bird was left in the care of the RSPCA.

Makes a change to hear about a Show Hawk trapped on the roof rather than some **** Hawk stealing lead from one.
