"The situation is complicated" no its not.

Before the expansion, there were no easyjet flights flying out of southend and now if you live in leigh these flights are the lowest noisiest flights that can be heard early in the morning and late at night.

Ok so these type of aircraft are quieter but they are not quiet and they fly a lot lower than other aircraft from other airports, this can clearly be seen they are easyjet and they are orange how condescending to suggest otherwise .

Complaints. Perhaps the Council and the members that have supported the expansion can explain if a resident complains will this be recorded and if the same person wishes to sell their home due to the expansion, will this compliant need to be disclosed to any potential purchaser? i guess people who know the answer to this will wish to keep quiet to avoid any complications and residents will keep quiet and put up with it until their house is sold. Obviously this scenario suits the Council and they can make condescending statements in respect of the lack of complaints.

The general support of the airport is nothing to do with the Council owning the airport is it? If the Council is benefiting from the expansion then they should also compensate those who have been disadvantaged and there are many who have, perhaps the council are unaware of the true figures of those who have been disadvantaged for the reasons noted above.
" they fly a lot lower than other aircraft from other airports, this can clearly be seen they are easyjet"

clearly you are a expert on the airbus a319, how many hours have you logged in command of one...none..?

So you are saying they deliberately fly off the localiser/glideslope when on approach and do not fly the noise abatement procedure and miss use their FMGS guidance on take-off....?

whine about the airport if you must, but don't make statements about 'low flying aircraft' when you clearly have no knowledge about what your talking about."

Claims of noisy jets at Southend Airport are rejected by council

PEOPLE who protest about increased noise from Southend Airport are confusing its flights with other airports, council chiefs claim.

Bosses at Southend Council said the number of complaints about aircraft noise was at roughly the same level as it had been before easyJet moved into the town in April.

They believe many residents living under the flight path mistake planes flying to or from Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted and London City airports for those heading into Southend.

Despite this, they’ve agreed to set up a committee to monitor complaints and ensure the airport doesn’t breach strict limits on flight paths and night operations.

Andy Lewis, corporate director for the environment, said: “Complaints regarding noise since the enhanced level of operation of the airport have not increased. The situation is complicated by the level of flights in and around Southend (from other airports).”

Council leader, Nigel Holdcroft, added: “I think residents are generally supportive of the airport, but it is important we’re seen to monitor the situation and ensure it is following the rules.”

Since easyJet started routes to nine overseas destinations, the number of people flying from Southend has rocketed. More than 100,000 passengers used the airport over the last two months.

People living under the flight path in Leigh claim their lives are now blighted by low-flying planes. The new committee will be given regular updates by the airport on the number of flights arriving and leaving Southend.

But Liz Marcusson, 47, from Leigh, said: “They can’t stop the flights from coming in, can they? I don’t care what people say – it’s much noisier.” No one from the airport wished to comment.
