School pupils make a dash to raise £2k hospice cash

A CHILDREN’S hospice is celebrating a £2,000 cash boost from a Rayleigh school.

Teachers and pupils from the Sweyne Park school took part in the annual Santas on the Run race in aid of Little Havens Children’s Hospice.

The school, which is in Sir Walter Raleigh Drive, entered 55 contestants – 45 pupils and ten staff, and were the biggest team to compete this year.

All of the pupils were in Year 8 and were all sponsored to take part in the race.

The race was started by West End star and Denise Van Outen’s husband Lee Mead, who comes from Eastwood.

The route was around Little Haven’s wildlife centre, next door to the hospice in Daws Heath Road, Thundersley.
