A woman has been rushed to hospital following a blaze that gutted a Shoebury flat.
The 45-year-old woman was given oxygen by fire crews, who described her as “slipping in and out of consciousness”, after she suffered severe smoke inhalation following the fire in her Delaware Crescent flat.
The woman, who was taken to Southend hospital, is said to be in a stable condition.
The entire groundfloor flat was gutted by the flames and smoke damage, and the woman has been left homeless.
