A cement mixer lorry caught fire, causing delays on the A127.

The vehicle was fire near the Rayleigh Weir heading towards London.

Traffic was queueing backed to Daws Heath Road.

A spokesman for the Essex Fire Service said: "Firefighters were called to the scene of a fire involving a cement mixer lorry this morning on the A127.

"The vehicle ignited near to the Rayleigh Weir underpass.

"The London bound carriageway of the road was closed while firefighters tackled the fire, which was extinguished completely by 11.41am.

"The cause of the fire has been recorded as accidental."
