ANGRY residents have complained about homeless people camping on their doorsteps.
Tents and drug syringes have been spotted at a grassy area near Queensway and York Road, Southend.
Maxie Jackson raised serious concerns on social media.
She said: “They were here for about two weeks.
“I made countless complaints.”
She claimed the unwanted guests were “throwing used needles everywhere, being abusive and fighting” adding “what a lovely thing to see as you get into Southend”.
A Southend Council spokesman said: “We are aware of people camping in various locations across central Southend.
“In these instances, our priority is to engage with the individuals so that we can find them suitable accommodation together with appropriate support.
“We ask anyone who has concerns about someone sleeping rough to report this initially to streetlink.org.uk in the first instance.”
The camp had moved on by Tuesday with other camps also being cleared around the borough and then setting up elsewhere.
