THE great plastic pick up was a big success in Basildon.
There was a good turn out with groups Clean up Basildon, Wickford Wombles, Vange Hill Community Group and several other volunteers making a difference in their area.
Both Vange Hill Community Group and Wickford Wombles put in plenty of effort to organise their own events
Wickford Community Group managed to fill 31 bin bags after 20 people turned up to help.
With help from Clean up Basildon supporting Vange Hill Community Group and the volunteers they managed to collect plenty of rubbish.
Mark Pytka, from Clean up Basildon, said: “Turnout could always be better.
“Nevertheless Clean up Basildon is saying a huge thank you to all the volunteers who spent there weekend picking up litter.”
It is one of a number of clean up events taking place.
