A scene from Goldfinger may have been shot at Southend Airport, but this weekend another James Bond classic will be taking centre stage at the site.

A screening of the 1965 film, Thunderball, starring Sean Connery, will be shown in hangar five of Southend Airport on Saturday (May 12) at 8pm,.

The film is being hosted by the Vulcan Restoration Trust and not only will a Vulcan XL426 be parked outside the hangar to add to the atmosphere, but so will an Aston Martin DB5- the iconic car associated with the famous literary spy.

Thunderball was the fourth James Bond film and followed on from the success of Goldfinger a year earlier. In that film James Bond, played by Connery, (pictured) drives his Aston Martin DB5 into Southend Airport and takes it to Geneva in Switzerland via Carvair.

Tickets for the Thunderball screening are £12 each. Doors open at 6pm. Log onto avrovulcan.com to book.
