A COMMUNITY archive has marked its 10th anniversary.
Canvey Community Archive held a special event to mark the occasion, with more than 1,000 photos from the 1960s to the 1990s from the Echo’s archive on display. Councillor Ray Howard also attended the event.
Janet Penn, from the archive, said: “We have met so many wonderful people, either in the flesh or the electronic way and even by letter. The stories, photos and history we have uncovered is unbelievable and still we are finding out new things.
“With the 400th anniversary of the Dutch settlers this year we are currently researching to try to find out all we can about these early Canveyites. We have also been helping the Sisters of Mercy identify the Sisters buried in the 30s in the grounds of the Anglican Convent.”
