There has been a variety of stories hitting the headlines this week.

On Sunday, an 18-year-old was stabbed during a fight outside Westcliff railway station.

It is believed a group of men were fighting in station road.

The men ran off and are believed to have left the scene in taxis, leaving one man with non life threatening stab wounds.

Also on Sunday, two houses were left uninhabitable after a fuse box sparked a fire.

Thankfully no-one was injured and the cause was recorded as accidental.

There was good news for Sarah Murray, 17, who has Down Syndrome.

After a tough year in which she lost her dad to cancer and her house and her mum, Lucy, was diagnosed with terminal cancer, her mum appealed for Ant and Dec to come along to her 18th birthday party.

Although the comedy duo were unable to do that, they did invite Sarah and her mum to the ITV studios for a meet and greet.

There was awful news on Tuesday after a man, subsequently named as Kieren Lynch, and woman, Jennifer Cronin, were set on fire in a house in Benfleet.

Mr Lynch, who is thought to have set himself and Jennifer, his ex-mother-in-law, on fire, died later in hospital.

A public meeting in Basildon to discuss the local plan had to be postponed after hundreds of people turned up

More than 350 people couldn't get in after the room quickly reached capacity.
