A CHARITY in Benfleet has received a donation of almost £10,000 from the owners of the Echo’s publishers.
Carers Choices in Kiln Road received a huge donation from The Gannett Foundation for £9,728, which will be used to pay for building work and the specialist furniture needed to aid the people who visit the centre.
The charity gives aid to sufferers of dementia, their carers and families at their day centre in the White House. The application for the grant was made the manager of Carers Choices, Angela Allum.
After receiving the award, a spokesman for the charity, said: “We could not do this without funding, Angela applied to the Gannett Foundation without whom, this whole success story would not have been possible.
“Thankfully, Carers Choices were chosen as recipients of a large grant this year for £9,728.
“The work on the building has just been completed and is open for carers to bring along their loved ones who are living with dementia.”
