MPs have urged the Government to consider a “no deal” Brexit.

James Duddridge MP for Rochford and Southend East criticised Labour’s stated policy of refusing to countenance a no deal Brexit.

Mr Duddridge, alongside other Tory MPs, said they were concerned Labour’s stance would “drastically hamper Britain’s negotiating position in the discussions about our exit from the EU”.

Mr Duddridge said: “We should be prepared for any eventuality, including a ‘no deal’ scenario.

"A 'no deal' will be my preference for a fast and clean Brexit. And will allow us to deliver a Brexit that is in the national interest of the country.”

This week, Suella Fernandes, MP for Fareham and staunch Brexiter, wrote to Jeremy Corbyn in regards to his party’s new policy.

Ms Fernades said: “Your decision to try and limit Britain’s negotiating flexibility demonstrates Labour is betraying the national interest and seeking to thwart a successful exit from the European Union.”
