The A127 is closed following a vehicle crash in which a man has been seriously injured.
Police have shut the road Londonbound from the Halfway House (A128) due to the crash which happened at B186 Warley.
A spokesman from the ambulance service said: "We were called to reports of a road traffic collision at 11am this morning on the A127 in Great Warley.
"Three rapid response vehicles, an ambulance and ambulance officer, as well as the Essex and Herts Air Ambulance attended the scene.
"A man was taken to hospital by land ambulance in a serious condition."
An Essex Police spokesman said: "Police are at the scene of a road traffic collision on the A127 in Great Warley close to the junction of the B186.
"Officers received calls at around 11am today (Monday, September 25) after a vehicle crashed along the London bound carriageway.
"The driver, a man aged in his 60s, has been taken to hospital in a serious condition.
"The road has been closed to traffic. Enquiries are ongoing.
"Anyone with information or dashcam footage is asked to contact the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 101 or email collisionappeal@essex.pnn.police.uk."
Traffic is trapped between the two junctions causing long delays.
