A MEMORIAL football match is taking place in tribute to a popular Basildon man.

Daniel Voysey, 34, suffered from depression and sadly died after jumping from a multi-storey car park in Great Oaks, Basildon, in May last year.

More than 300 people attended the funeral.

Two games will take place between Daniel’s friends and family and the Lansdowne Rangers Vets.

The Daniel Voysey Memorial Cup will take place on July 15 at Pegasus Country Club in Fobbing. The first game starts at 1.30pm and afterwards everyone is welcome back to Q Ball Snooker Club, in Basildon, where there will be raffles, auctions and live music. All money raised is going to the Essex and Herts Air Ambulance.

A CD of a song written by Daniel and performed by his cousin will be available to buy. Daniel’s friend, Allan Handley, who organised the event, said: “The Air Ambulance revived Daniel and got him to Whitechapel Hospital where he sadly later died. They were amazing and gave Daniel the best chance of surviving and they do all this just via donations. We raised £5,000 last year and hoping to better this year.”
