A SINGER who won the X Factor has collaborated with other famous singers on a charity single to raise money for those affected by the Grenfell Tower fire.

Louisa Johnson, from Chafford Hundred, won the televised singing contest aged 17 in 2015.

She has since had a number of popular hits and joined other singers including Robbie Williams, Jessie J, Leona Lewis and Paloma Faith to record the single, a cover of the 1970 Simon and Garfunkel classic, Bridge Over Troubled Water.

Each line of the song is sung by a different artist, with Louisa singing the final line of the second verse “and pain is all around”.

The single also features a 300-strong choir led by Pitch Battle’s Gareth Malone.

Louisa, who went to St Thomas Catholic Primary School in Grays, said: “The number of people who have actually agreed to it and gone out of their way to do it is incredible, especially considering how busy some of these people are.

“I feel honoured to be a part of it so to have been there for the recording is really important. Everyone will love it. I’m really hoping that it does well.”

The singer, whose hit with Clean Bandit, Tears, was in the top five last year, added that the the charity single was “beautiful”.

Organiser Simon Cowell said he hoped the single will raise millions to help those caught up in the horrific blaze.

At least 79 people were killed in the fire which spread through the 24-storey tower block in North Kensington after taking hold in the early hours of the morning.

The song is available now on iTunes.
