READERS will be able to get an insight into the Echo and find out how the daily newsroom runs as part of a special Trusted News Day.

As part of our industry’s Fighting Fake News campaign, local newspapers are holding an interactive Trusted News Day tomorrow - and are asking readers to share their views and get in touch with us.

The aim of the event is for us at the Echo to give people a sense of what we do and how we do it, as well as helping you to feel that our newsroom is always open to you.

Throughout the day we will be blogging, tweeting and posting on Facebook as well as sharing live stories about what we are up to in your area. We will also be posting a series of videos talking about life on a daily paper, how we cope with breaking news and why we feel local news is so important.

We will also want your input throughout the day. We will be running polls about the paper and want to know what you think we should cover and what you want to read.

If you are interested in reading more about the elections... let us know.

Want us to find out more about a charity close to your heart? We want to hear from you!

Organised by Local Media Works, the local marketing arm of the News Media Association, Fighting Fake News has seen hundreds of regional papers highlight their highly-trusted credentials through features, news stories, infographics and videos.

The campaign, which launched a week ago and will continue to run up to and through Local Newspaper Week, which runs from May 15 to 21, has prompted Prime Minister Theresa May to comment on the dangers of fake news on social media and the importance of a free press.

Local Newspaper Week will see the public invited to vote for their favourite local newspaper campaign from a showcase of 28 powerful Making a Difference campaigns with the winner announced at the Society of Editors Regional Press Awards on May 19.
