THERE was plenty of digging, exploring and a whole lot of fun when children and their parents enjoyed a day in the great outdoors.

The Caterpillar Club, at the Langdon Visitor Centre and Nature Reserve, in Third Avenue, Langdon Hills, was fully booked for a special session in the sensory garden.

Youngsters got their hands dirty as they went digging in search of wildlife and helped tend to the colourful gardens. There was also a storytelling session.

Centre manager Sue Adams hailed the session as a success. said: “The children and their families were all out in the sensory garden for the session.

“This is a special area we have put together and the club has its own special plot in there.

“With the help of our staff the children started to do some work on the plot. They were digging it over and started to plant some flowers.

“All of the children seemed to really enjoy the day.”
