A MAN has been given six points on his licence and a suspended prison sentence, and a woman has been jailed for driving whilst disqualified.

Darren Girling, 40, of Havenrow, Basildon, was charged with driving whilst disqualified and driving without insurance after Police stopped a suspected stolen white BMW 320 on cloned number plates at the BP Garage in London Road, Rayleigh in December.

He has been given six points on his licence, a 16-week prison sentence suspended for 12 months, and ordered to pay a £115 victim surcharge.

Joanne Warner, 36, of Bardfield Way, Rayleigh admitted driving whilst disqualified and failing to provide a specimen.

She has been disqualified from driving for 49 months, given prison sentences of 12 weeks and four weeks respectively, sentences to run concurrently, given points on her licence and told to pay a £115 victim surcharge.

A 46 year-old man from Rayleigh who was also arrested at the time was released without charge.
