AN MP is supporting a campaign to improve conditions for greyhounds.
Rebecca Harris, MP for Castle Point, attended an event on greyhound welfare with members of the Greyhound Forum. The group is a charity calling for stronger regulation to protect racing greyhounds, which sometimes encounter abuse while they are racing and afterwards.
She said: “As the owner of a rescue lurcher this is a cause close to my heart. I am proud to support this campaign and I believe it is essential that animal welfare is prioritised in the Greyhound industry.”
The forum, largely made up of welfare organisations, engages with the greyhound industry to try and encourage improvements to animal welfare for these animals.
