A POPULAR children’s book festival is back this year with a number of authors providing fun and interactive workshops for children.

Aimed at children aged between four and 11-years-old, the festival hopes to encourage children to read and develop their imagination and creativity, with the option to purchase a signed book to inspire further reading.

Authors Ann Jungman, writer of more than 100 children’s books, award-winning Roy Apps and picture book author Hollie Hughes will all be holding sessions at The Forum in Elmer Square, as part of the event.

Ann Holland Executive Councillor for Culture, Tourism and the Economy said: “This is a wonderful festival for children to find out more about the authors and how they create these exciting places and adventures.

“Reading is an important part of everyday life but by expanding the imaginativeness and inventiveness of children today we embolden the authors and writers of tomorrow.

“I hope this year will be just as successful as the previous six years and that the children and parents alike enjoy these charming sessions.”

Held over the October half term, from October 20 to October 29, tickets are £3 for children with accompanying adults attending for free.
