A HAUL of drugs and guns were found in a police raid.

Officers burst open the door of a home in Urmond Road, Canvey, as part of a major drugs operation.

The uncovered a large quantity of herbal cannabis and some white powder, which has not yet been identified.

Four guns were also seized during the warrant, which was carried out on Monday morning.

Noone was at the property at the time of the raid.

Enquiries are now underway to establish who lives there.

When identified, they are likely to be questioned on suspicion of drugs offences and possession of offensive weapons.

Det Ch Insp Jon Burgess, who heads up Operation Raptor, which was set up to tackle gangs operating across the county, said the findings were a positive result for his team.

He said: “We seized two stun guns, two blank firing pistols as well as white powder, which is going off to be tested.

“Five large bags of cannabis were also seized. It’s a really good bit of policing to get weapons and drugs off the streets.

“It’s a really good bit of disruption.

“People have these weapons for a reason - to harm people.”

An Essex Police spokesman said: “Police carried out a search warrant at an address in Urmond Road, Canvey, on Monday, September 19.

“A quantity of what was believed to be cannabis was found, as well as two stun guns and two hand guns.
