STUNNING pictures show the waxing moon over Southend seafront last night.
The images, taken by Westcliff photographer Andrew Kenyon, are of the waxing crescent moon.
He said: "It was particularly impressive as the non-directlly illuminated part of the moon was faintly illuminated by 'Earthshine' - sunlight reflected off the earth (the opposite to moonshine where the earth is illuminated on a bright night by sunlight reflected off the moon).
"This Earthshine only happens when conditions are perfect for it."
