RESURFACING work along the A127 will begin two months earlier than originally planned.

Essex County Council has identified 16 sites along the road for improvements and will carry out the work in phases between February and May.

Rodney Bass, Tory county councillor responsible for infrastructure.said: “This work is vital to keep the A127 safe and reliable.

“It is a key strategic route connecting the M25, Basildon, Southend and beyond.

“It carries over 74,000 vehicles per day on some sections, resulting in heavy wear to the surface. Resurfacing is now necessary to extend the life of the road surface.”

Temporary overnight road closures will be used and diversions put in place while resurfacing work is carried out.

Engineers will also use the closures as an opportunity to carry out other scheduled roadworks on the A127.

Closures will be advertised in advance on-site and on the Essex Highways website, essexhighways.org
