A SOUTHEND Labour councillor is calling on his colleagues to respect Sunday as a day of rest and oppose plans to allow stores and shops to open longer.
Julian Ware-Lane has asked political colleagues to support his call.
Giving councils the ability to have longer trading hours was one of the flagship policies announced by the Government in its budget earlier this summer.
It could mean you could shop in Southend and Basildon for longer than six hours on the day traditionally associated with rest.
Mr Ware-Lane opposes the move. What's your view?
