Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses after two cars were set alight.
A silver Mini Cooper S was set alight in Cheddar Avenue, Westcliff, at 11.35pm on Sunday, September 13.
The fire spread to a white Mercedes Sprinter van and both vehicles were destroyed.
Pc David Ince said: "Two people were seen in a small silver car at the time of the incident.
"A bottle of flammable liquid was thrown from the vehicle before it drove off.”
Anyone with information is asked to call Pc Ince at Southend police station on 101.
