Hundreds of revellers could descend on Shoebury’s East Beach again after it emerged another “rave” was being planned at the seaside venue.

The Shoebury beach party is being advertised on Facebook for this Saturday, promising five DJs will be playing from noon until 10pm.

The party plan comes just two weeks after an illegal rave left the beauty spot littered with rubbish and broken glass.

Worried locals fear the parties could become a regular event in the future and damage the area, which is popular with families.

John Budge, from the Shoebury Residents’ Association, said: “Until this month, I can’t remember anything like this happening and Shoebury does not want this type of thing in the future.

“At the last party we had behaviour such as people urinating against fences and that is totally unacceptable.

“I think a lot of people will be deterred from coming to Shoebury if they wanted to come to East Beach, but found out a party was going on there.”

Peter Grubb, from the Friends of Shoebury Common group, visited the first event on August 8 while it was in full swing.

He said: “There was an unauthorised one just a few weeks ago, so Southend Council needs to get on their case.

“I went and had a look around and the people were all having a fun time, but while Shoebury welcomes all-comers, they need to adhere to rules and regulates and I think the organisers were pushing the boundaries.

“People who live around there are looking for a quiet life and you’re not going to get a quiet weekend when people are up to those sort of things.”

The upcoming party is meant to feature barbecues and volleyball, and organisers have given directions on how to get to the beach from London.

However, they would need a music licence and barbeques are only permitted in certain areas of the beach.

Calls have been made for the police to take action before the event takes place.

John Brooks, 45, of Rubens Close, Shoebury, said: “I hope something is done to prevent it this time. The authorities have had a heads-up so there’s no excuse for incompetence.”
