GEORGIOS SAMARAS today lit the blue touch paper on an explosive end to the SPL championship by declaring that if Rangers win the title, they won't deserve it.

The Celtic striker believes that, even though the holders have twice blown seven-point leads this season, they have been the better team.

Sami was speaking ahead of Sunday's matches which see Celtic face Hearts trailing Rangers - who play Dundee United at Tannadice - by two points.

He said: "Last year they were seven points clear and we won the title, and I said that we were the better team.

"Now I will go the opposite side. If they are going to win it, I don't think they deserve it.

"I think we are a better team than them.

"But if they are going to win it, then fair play, it's our mistakes. But I think we are a better team than them."

Asked if it was the biggest game of his career, Samaras answered: "Maybe it will, maybe it won't be. It all depends if we win title."

Whatever the outcome, Sami wants Gordon Strachan to remain in charge of the club.

He said: "Until this day, the manager has been successful, and I think everyone at the club wants him to stay."

Strachan refused to take any questions on his future, insisting he was focusing only on winning Sunday's game.

The manager did reveal that Scott Brown and Gary Caldwell have not been able to train this week, but will both be fit to face Hearts.

Barry Robson and Mark Wilson have both had further surgery on the groin injuries which saw them go under the knife two months ago.
