THE first silverware of the season is up for grabs on Saturday when Glasgow City take on Spartans in the Scottish Women's Premier League Cup Final.
Both sides go into the match, at Stirling Albion's Forthbank, kick off 3pm, unbeaten in the domestic campaign and have yet to face each other this season.
As current Premier League Champions, City's top goalscorer Suzanne Lappin knows her team are favourites, and having been in many finals before, she knows City can handle the occasion. She said: "This is my sixth season with City and Saturday will be my sixth domestic cup final, so we know fully what to expect.
"Spartans are a very talented side and their record this season speaks volumes for how well they are playing. Front pairing Diana Barry and Debbie McWhinnie are former City players, so we know them well.
"We play football to win trophies so to have a chance to pick up some silverware this early in the season is a tremendous boost for the club.
"Our girls team have also made it to the SWFL Final - the League Cup for the four lower divisions - so our club is on a high. We will be doing everything to lift the trophy."
Spartans are without defender Shelley Faughnan.
