A MAN has been taken to hospital with head injuries after being hit by a bus in Southend.
The man, in his forties was knocked down after being hit by the bus in Chichester Road, at the junction with York Road, near Southend bus station.
An ambulance spokesman said: "We were called at 10.41am to reports a pedestrian had been hit by a bus.
"We sent an ambulance, a rapid response vehicle and an ambulance officer. A man in his forties was treated for head injuries and taken to Southend Hospital for further treatment.
"The man was conscious and his injuries are not believed to be life threatening."
The stretch of Chichester Road between York Road and Heygate Avenue was closed until shortly before 12pm.
