A WORKER at Burger King suffered a cut to his hand after a man armed with a knife demanded cash from him this morning in a terrifying robbery,

Police are appealing for witnesses following the robbery at Burger King in Southend High Street this morning (Saturday, December 6).

Officers were contacted just before 6.55am this morning with reports a man armed with a knife had entered the fast food restaurant via the rear staff entrance and threatened a male employee demanding money.

The suspect was armed with a knife and the 25-year-old staff member received an injury to his left hand.

The injured man was taken to hospital where he is receiving treatment.

The suspect is described as white, of slim build, 5ft 11ins tall and aged around 40. He had a bald head and wore a dark jacket and dark jeans. Police believe he may have had some blood on his clothing when he left the scene. Police have recovered a knife at the scene.
