A ROAD was closed while emergency services dealt with a casualty in Southend.
Police, fire and ambulance crews were called to Clifftown Parade shortly after 3pm to deal with an injured man.
An ambulance spokesman said: "We were called to Clifftown Parade at 3.18pm.
"We sent a rapid response vehicle, an ambulance and two other ambulance officers.
"The air ambulance also attended. A patient was taken to Southend Hospital."
The ambulance service was unable to provide details of the condition of the patient.
A resident who asked not to be named said: "The whole road was blocked off. It was chaos outside."
A police spokesman said: "We were called to assist the ambulance service with a man who was taken to Southend Hospital."
Fire crews said they were called to assist paramedics by breaking through a garden fence.
