SIXTH formers from Southend High School for Girls spent two weeks in Vietnam on a cultural exchange programme.

Twenty two students and three teachers took part in the programme with Schools Worldwide. They learned about Vietnamese cooking in a lesson in Ho Che Minh City and also visited the Wildlife at Risk project and Stork Sanctuary.

The students spent five days working on a community project, building a much-needed toilet for a primary school in the Mekong Delta.

They learnt a variety of skills, from rendering walls and tiling to mixing cement. They also engaged with the villagers and learned about the local culture and history.
