A signal failure on the c2c line has forced the rail operater into cancelling a host of train services.

There is a signalling problem between Laindon and Leigh, according to the operator, which runs trains from London Fenchurch Street to Shoebury.

The issue is because of flooding at Pitsea Station, which has let to fuses being blown and engineers are currently pumping water out from drains near to the station.

c2c had already put back its trains coming out of Southend for an hour, and now they have been cancelled.

Instead, trains are running at delays out of Southend, and they are just going to Leigh.

Trains are running from Leigh to Shoebury, at delays, but the rest of the line is out of bounds.

Network Rail is on scene at Pitsea, with engineers trying to resolve the issue.

It is understood that services may not resume fully until 2pm, and Greater Anglia has said it will accept tickets on its line.

Replacement bus services will be laid on.

c2c earlier tweeted: "Due to signalling problems btn Laindon & Leigh-On-Sea. Services running across the whole c2c network may be cancelled, delayed or revised."
