TWO more people have been arrested in a Southend murder investigation.

Essex Police have arrested a teenager and a 40-year-old man this week, as part of their investigation into the murder of Hassan Mohammed, in York Road, which happened on July 7.

A 17-year-old man from Westcliff was arrested on Tuesday, on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon, and he has been released on bail.

A 40-year-old male was arrested a day later on suspicion of arresting an offender and perverting the course of justice, and is currently in for questioning.

Cops have also recovered a vehicle – a blue Peaugot 307 car – which had been seen in the area of the murder, and have got forensics to look over it.

Detective chief inspector Simon Werrett said: "The investigation into Hassan's murder has made a great deal of headway and I would like to thank the people of Southend for all their help and support. It is in large part thanks to them that we have progressed so well."

Unless they have hdone an about turn, the police have assured us this was not drugs related, despite what appears to be a large amount of (admittedly circumstantial) evidence to the contrary. Other posts on here have mentioned that the victim had previously been jailed for stabbing someone. Regardless, let's hope that the culprit, or culprits, are arrested soon, & quickly brought to trial - not a year or so later.
