TWO more people have been arrested in a Southend murder investigation.

Essex Police have arrested a teenager and a 40-year-old man this week, as part of their investigation into the murder of Hassan Mohammed, in York Road, which happened on July 7.

A 17-year-old man from Westcliff was arrested on Tuesday, on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon, and he has been released on bail.

A 40-year-old male was arrested a day later on suspicion of arresting an offender and perverting the course of justice, and is currently in for questioning.

Cops have also recovered a vehicle – a blue Peaugot 307 car – which had been seen in the area of the murder, and have got forensics to look over it.

Detective chief inspector Simon Werrett said: "The investigation into Hassan's murder has made a great deal of headway and I would like to thank the people of Southend for all their help and support. It is in large part thanks to them that we have progressed so well."
