A WOMAN has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievious bodily harm to a man after a fight in a pub.

A 51-year-old man received serious facial injuries as a result of a fight with woman both inside and outside the Guildford pub in Sutton road, Southend.

As the altercation moved outside the woman assaulted the man when he was on the ground causing serious injury to his face.

It happened at about 6.50pm on May 11. A 35-year-old woman from Southend was later arrested and questioned on suspicion of grevious bodily harm.

She has been released on bail until July 18 pending further enquiries.

Police have today appealed for witnesses who saw the incident to contact them.

Investigating Officer Dc Simon Laurie said: "Several witnesses have spoken to police already but there were lots of people in the pub and walking past outside who have not yet been identified and I urge them to come forward and tell me what they saw."
