A SERIES of environmental action days will be happening across the Rochford District this month.

The district council has teamed up with Hullbridge and Great Wakering Parish Councils to hold the days and clean up their streets.

Litter picks and dog fouling clean ups will be in Hullbridge on Wednesday, June 11, starting at 11.30am and 1.30pm respectively, with people encouraged to meet in Pooles Lane Car Park.

Further litter picks will be held in Great Wakering the following day, starting at 1pm, 2pm and 7pm from the Old School Car Park, High Street.

Councillor Ian Ward, portfolio holder for environment, said: “These Environmental Action Days are designed to bring everyone together as a community to say that we won’t tolerate rubbish on our streets.

“If you can spare a few hours, please lend a hand at our events in Hullbridge and Great Wakering, where we are having a big drive to clear up litter.

“There is also the added benefit of an environmental roadshow taking place at the same time so that you can ask Council officers your questions about environmental issues.”

Equipment and refreshments will be provided but people are advised to wear suitable clothing and footwear.

Children must be accompanied by an adult.
