POLICE are hunting a suspect who stole £1,000 of jewellery in a Rochford burglary and want to hear from anyone who believes they recognise their e-fit.

The suspect entered a house of an elderly woman in Spencer Gardens, Rochford, through a back door shortly after 11.50pm on Thursday, May 1.

They stole cash from a purse and a number of items of jewellery, including two gold rings, a bracelet and a necklace with a total value of £1,000.

The victim had been asleep but was disturbed by the noise and found the suspect in the house before he ran off through the back door.

The man is described as being white, slim, under 30 years old, taller than 5ft 8in with dark hair which was shaved at the bottom, and a piercing above his right eyebrow.

The suspect was wearing a blue lumberjack style shirt, a grey t-shirt, pale blue jeans and tanned leather lace-up boots.
