A 72-YEAR-OLD woman was robbed in broad daylight by a man pulling her hood over her head.

Detectives are asking for help from the public in tracing the man, who robbed the woman as she walked along Mynchens in Basildon, just before 11am on March 3.

The suspect had approached the woman from behind and pulled the hood of her coat over her head, demanded her handbag before pulling it from her and running off in the direction of Great Knightleys.

He is described as white, aged between 16 and 25, about 5ft 8in to 5ft 10in tall and of slim build.

He was wearing a dark coloured top and lighter coloured trousers.

Det Con Phil McCorkell, of Basildon CID, said: "I would very much like to speak to anyone who saw this robbery or who has any other information which can help identify this man.

“The lady was not physically injured during the robbery but I think that is more down to luck as this man appeared to have a complete disregard for his victim.

“She has been left extremely shaken by what happened I would like to arrest this man as soon as possible.”

Anyone with information can call Det Con McCorkell at Basildon CID on 101 or ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
