POLICE are appealing for witnesses after an attempted break-in and burglary on the same night.

At 1.25am on February 23, suspects were disturbed after attempting to gain access to a bungalow in Branscombe Square, Thorpe Bay.

An area search was conducted, including the police helicopter and dogs, but the suspects were not found.

A burglary, believed to have occurred at 3.50am on February 23 but not reported until 8.30am, also occurred at a flat in The Broadway, Thorpe Bay.

Suspects were disturbed after gaining entry and made off via a balcony.

Nothing was stolen in either incident.

Det Con Jon Holden from Southend CID said: "I am looking for any witnesses between those times in the Thorpe Bay area who may have seen two men about 5ft 8ins tall, wearing dark clothing and of medium build.

"One of the males has been described as being white with a round face and appeared oriental.”
