Dr Feelgood return to their home county to play to Southend fans in March.

Formed on Canvey in the early 1970’s, Dr Feelgood achieved success with their album, Stupidity, which hit number one in the UK charts.

The current line-up features Kevin Morris, on drums, and Phil Mitchell, on bass, who have been in the band for 29 years, and Steve Walwyn on guitar, a member for 23 years.

Vocalist Robert Kane, formerly of the Animals, joined the band in 1999, five years after the death of Lee Brilleaux.

Kevin said: “It’s always an extra buzz playing on our home turf – especially for me living in Westcliff. I can walk to work!”

The band have enjoyed global success with a string of hit singles, including Roxette, Back in the Night, Milk and Alcohol, and See You Later Alligator, which gave the group their first gold record.

The band have continued to tour extensively around the world, and play Westcliff ’s Palace Theatre on Sunday, March 9.

Paul Driscoll, of Southend Theatres, said: “We’re delighted to have Dr Feelgood back at the venue, only a year after the last very successful visit.

“Tickets are selling well and we’re looking forward to another sell-out.”

Tickets, from £17, are available from the box office on 01702 351135.
