AN UNCONSCIOUS man was found by fire crews who were called to a blaze in Chalkwell.

Fire crews from Leigh found the casualty when they were called to Chalkwell footbridge after reports of a fire in the derelict buildings underneath at 10.35pm yesterday.

Firefighters came across the man inside the property and rescued him from the blaze.

They administered oxygen and CPR and handed him over to the care of paramedics when they arrived on the scene.

The incident is now being investigated by Essex Police.
