POLICE would like to speak with this man about the theft of petrol from a garage in Rayleigh.

A man stopped at the Grange filling station on London Road at about 1.20pm on December 11 and filled an Alpha Romeo with petrol.

The car was initially identified as a black Saab, incorrectly. The man then left, making no attempt to pay.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Pc Lucy Bearman, or her colleagues at Rayleigh, on 101. Alternatively, call independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.

Is that a Saab..? Looks more like an Alfa Mito to me, can't be many of those around.

At the risk of repeating myself the sure fire way to stop petrol theft is to make the customer pay first as at Asda Shoebury. You can't really blame a dishonest person for taking advantage of a sloppy system. It isn't any different to shoplifting and if you put temptation in front of a thief they will take what they can get.

Of course it is. £100? I'd rather keep that to myself. Hence the reason I shoplift etc all the time.

so if that is the case from 1.20pm on December 11 2013,,,,until i myself spotted it instantly that it was an Alfa Mito and not a Saab this morning at 9.30am 21st Jan 2014 the Police thought they was looking for a Saab.....please tell me this ain't so.
