BURGLARS have stolen a pearl necklace, a three figure cash sum and ... a pair of slippers.

The new brown slippers, from Marks and Spencer, were still in the carrier bag when the home, in Exford Avenue, Westcliff, was broken into on Wednesday, December 18.

Entry was gained after a pane of glass in the back door was smashed.

Investigating officer, Dc Andy Copley, said the stolen slippers were a men’s size seven.

He said: "Maybe you live in the area and received a pair of similar slippers for Christmas, and were a bit suspicious about their origin? I’d like to hear from anyone with any information at all that could help to solve this crime.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact Dc Copley at Southend CID, on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
