Burglars steal wrapped Christmas presents

BURGLARS broke into a home and stole Christmas presents from under the tree.

The thieves also let out a pet rabbit from its cage and sadly this animal later became unwell and died at the vets.

It is thought that the rabbit may have died from the shock.

The break in happened in Gordon Road, Southend at about 9pm on November 29.

The stolen items were a grey "Everlast" hooded top, a light grey and white Nike Air Max trainers with a pink tick size 5 1/2, and two board games.

Police are investigating and say there was a large group of young people in the area.

If they, or anyone else has any information, please contact Pc Sam Winter, CID, at Southend police station on 101.

According to the wording of this story. The pet rabbit died from the shock of being let out the cage?? Poor thing obviously not being let out enough in the past. We used to let our rabbits and guinea pigs out all the time.

Good God, the usual hang em before they're convicted mob comes out to play. An entire family judged and summed up in a few short words with absolutely no evidence whatsoever that they are "chavs" or that their rabbit had not been let out of its cage.

Makes me cringe, the way you people judge others whom you've never met. Would love to see you face to face with those you regularly criticise though. Difference between you and me is I'm prepared to face them as you will see elsewhere on this site.

I am not scared of the truth, nor do I hide behind it.

Nor do I attack people when they are down.

its the tory government who are the blame for all this, stopping peoples benefits for no real reason. its funny how george osborne is claiming we can't afford the welfare state yet we always seem to be able to afford things like MP's expenses and perks, and foreign aid.
i'm affraid this sort of crime will only get worse as people who have had their benefit stopped will struggle to feed their families and pay bills, if your looking for someone to blame then blame the greedy tories who steal from the poor to fund more for the rich. the true definition of sc*m!!

For those people on benefits, who loose them, there is no reason to rob people who work to give there family a good Christmas, a lot of these people are on low wages, and find it hard to live today with a government like this one, who don't care for the poor, only the rich, makes me sick. Merry Christmas to all,, except thieves!!

Rochford Rob says...

Mr Zorin, who coined the phrase 'Tough on crime, tough on the causes of crime' then signed us up to all the European rights nonsense, opened the floodgates and politicised the judicial system?

Here's a clue, it wasn't the current administration.

40+ plus years of Liberal attitudes have brought this about.

My parents were poor as church mice. Did they steal our Christmas presents for us?

No, we had modest presents or sometimes we went without.

Spot on Kim. I was at the vets when the rabbit was brought in. If the owner was doing an insurance jobbie then she deserves an oscar for her brilliant performance. God bless her and her family, I hope they recover from the shock soon and can enjoy Christmas. Having been burgled myself before, I know the pain it causes the family. I should add that the receptionists at the vets were superb with their concern and compassion.
