SOUTHEND UNITED footballer Michael Timlin has pleaded guilty to giving misleading information to police.
Appearing at Southend Magistrates’ Court Timlin, 28, of Pomeroy Street, south east London, admitted to three counts of perverting the course justice between November 2010 and January this year.
In October 2010, Timlin gave false information to police after being caught speeding, saying he hadn’t been driving his Audi A3. He repeated the offence in May last year.
Timlin, a midfielder at the club, then committed the offence once more in December 2012 before sending a letter to Essex police containing further false information.
In another offence, Timlin also pleaded guilty to speeding on the A127 through a 50mph zone last December.
He will be sentenced at Basildon Crown Court at a later date.
